Sapphire Center for Rehabilitation, a 227 bed facility Skilled Nursing Facility in Queens, New York is seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON)/Nursing Educator.

The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) assists and complements the Director of Nursing with all nursing tasks. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic leader with excellent organizational and communication skills, verbal and written.

The successful candidate will be a natural instructor with attention to detail and have the ability to motivate and develop the strengths of individuals.

He/she will have prior experience in a long term care setting, and experience in training and leading clinical staff.

The ADON/Educator must be able to step into different roles to support the overall Department of Nursing as demanded by circumstance.


Ø WE ARE CURRENTLY PAYING A $5,000.00 SIGNING BONUS FOR THIS POSITION (to be paid after successful completion of a 90 day probationary period).


DUTIES:
Assist the DON with management responsibilities and in maintaining quality of care;
Responsible for Wound/Skin Rounds weekly;
Assist with compliance and ensure effective communication with all levels of nursing staff; conduct in-services as needed
Meet the nursing medical needs of all residents;
Responsible for the accuracy and timely completion of medical records; accident/incident reports as needed
Assist with interviewing, hiring and orienting of new nursing staff;
Oversee daily staffing process;
Maintain flexibility with work schedule to address unpredictable needs;
Review application of potential hires; Initial interview with potential hire, in conjunction with the D.O.N. and Administrator.
Resident Advocate rounds daily to address resident concern.
Prevent abuse, neglect and exploitation in the elderly.
Must be knowledgeable in regulatory and infection control compliance
Any other duties and responsibilities requested by the Administrator.
Responsible for QA of all accidents/incidents on wound care and other QA projects as delegated.

REQUIREMENTS:
Current New York RN license required
Min. 3 yrs. exp. in Long-Term Care settings
2 years management experience preferred
1 year staff education experience preferred
Excellent written communication skills required
Evidence of basic leadership skills and supervision
Flexible hours required
