Duties

As a Equal Opportunity Specialist, your typical work assignments may include:
  • Provides management principles, processes, and concepts to conduct studies and recommend policies, programs, systems and procedures in the administrative management area which impact the agency and office operations.
  • Ensures analytical and evaluative methods with a thorough understanding of how regulatory or enforcement programs are administered within the agency.
  • Develops and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external Federal, state, and local law enforcement or minority and under-served community stakeholders to coordinate, facilitate, and promote civil rights programs.
  • Manages the structure, missions, programs, and organizational relationships within the agency and the federal government to ensure that communities in under-served areas, including persons with disabilities and persons with limited English proficiency, have equal access to relevant agency mission programs and services.

      Qualifications

      Applicants must meet all of the required qualification requirements described below by the closing of this announcement.       Applicants applying for the GS-14 must meet one of the following requirements:

      Have at least one full year of qualifying specialized experience that is at least equivalent in difficulty and complexity to work performed at the GS-13 grade level.

      Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

      Qualifying experience must demonstrate the following : 1) Manage agency civil rights programs, policies and procedures to ensure equal access to minority and under-served communities, including communities with Limited English Proficiency; 2) Identifying, overseeing, and coordinating law compliance issues; 3) Formulate training, policies and procedures to organization federal law enforcement agencies; and 4) Expound analysis data findings and disseminate to higher leadership.
