The Role:

  • Perform administrative discharge processes, ensuring proper documentation and follow-up.
  • Respond to patient inquiries and resolve billing issues using Zendesk.
  • Assist with financial navigation, including understanding insurance benefits and out-of-pocket costs.
  • Manage and collect patient accounts receivable (AR), following up on outstanding balances and insurance claims.
  • Coordinate with insurance companies on claim denials and appeals, ensuring proper documentation.
  • Educate patients on their financial responsibilities and billing impacts, maintaining accurate billing records.

You may have:

  • 2-3 years of experience with discharge administration
  • 2-3 years of experience in patient accounts receivable (AR) collection.
  • Experience using billing platforms like Athena, including familiarity with billing statements, payment plans, negotiating account balances, and responding to patient billing inquiries.
  • Experience with Zendesk or similar customer support platforms is preferred.
  • Understanding of medical billing processes, healthcare reimbursement principles, and coding guidelines (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS).
  • Bonus points if you have telehealth experience/remote experience
