In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Lead functional genomics, CRISPR, and other genome editing-related product development projects for an R&D team in a hands-on manner from feasibility through product launch.
  • Provide ownership of the development process to ensure project deliverables are achieved.
  • Coach and support team members to ensure best practices in the execution of CRISPR and Genomic Medicine projects; represent the team resources as part of the R&D leadership team and fulfill the team's commitment to a robust technology and product roadmap.
  • Proactively engage with customers, sales representatives, and the business unit to guide development through customer needs; also, provide leadership in marketing and launch of new products through various routes including: poster presentations, talks, peer-reviewed publications, etc.
  • Manage complex Genomic Medicine-related R&D projects; develops and implements strategy/specific experimental plans.
  • Establish productive collaborations with external key opinion leaders for new technology and product development.
  • Identify, evaluate, and champion new Genomic Medicine opportunities in major product or technology development; protect IDT patent positions throughout the process; conduct external technology evaluations and participate in decisions and follow-up actions.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Ph.D. in Molecular/Cell Biology, Genetics or related field required.
  • At least 15 years of research & development experience and at least 10 years of biotech industry experience in research & development required.
  • Expert knowledge and experience in molecular biology, cell biology and genome editing with a proven record of developing technologies and assays from concept to product.
  • Expert knowledge and experience in Genomic Medicine.
  • Experience in genome editing methodologies.
  • Must have prior experience with writing patents and supporting the patent prosecution (IP).
  • Demonstrated extensive management skills.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • A strong history of publication in the biological sciences.
  • Ability to motivate and guide others to meet objectives.
  • Excellent communication.
