Job Description:

The ideal candidate for this role will have a deep understanding of Splunk architecture and best practices, as well as hands-on experience in managing large-scale Splunk deployments. You should possess excellent analytical skills and the ability to translate business needs into effective Splunk solutions. Strong knowledge of scripting languages, such as Python or PowerShell, is also desirable to automate tasks and enhance data analysis capabilities. Good communication skills are essential for effectively conveying complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

You will:

  • Maintain and optimize the Splunk platform, including data ingestion, parsing, and indexing.
  • Design, develop, and implement Splunk searches, reports, and dashboards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and provide customized Splunk solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to the Splunk environment and data integrity.
  • Monitor system logs and data sources to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies.
  • Perform data analysis and provide actionable insights to support business decision-making.
  • Create and maintain documentation, including procedures, guidelines, and knowledge base articles.
  • Stay updated with the latest Splunk features, industry best practices, and emerging trends.
  • Should be comfortable working with Linux environment as well as Windows.
  • Strong knowledge of Splunk architecture, administration and best practices.
  • Proficient in creating and managing Splunk searches, reports and dashboards.
  • Experience with scripting languages like Python or PowerShell.
  • Solid understanding of data analysis techniques and statistical concepts.
  • Familiarity with log management, monitoring tools, and IT Infrastructure.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.

The Level 3 Systems Engineer shall possess the following capabilities:

  • Analyze user's requirements, create operations documents, and high-level system architectures to develop system requirements specifications.
  • Analyze system requirements and leads design and development activities.
  • Guides users in formulating requirements, advises alternative approaches, and conducts feasibility studies.
  • Incorporate new plans, designs and systems into ongoing operations.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation.
  • Develop System Architecture and system design documentation.
  • Guide system development and implementation planning through assessment or preparation of system engineering management plans, system integration and test plans.
  • The lead must be an effective communicator interacting with the Government regarding Systems Engineering technical considerations and for associated problems, issues or conflicts. Will ultimately be responsible for the technical integrity of work performed and deliverables associated with the Systems Engineering area of responsibility.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degreein System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.Five (5) yearsof additional SE experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
  • Twenty (20) yearsof experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity. Only one (1) year of total experience is required in the Federal Government.
  • Experience in implementing new data centers standards for new data centers and retrofit existing data center infrastructures.
  • Understanding of networking protocols, setup and troubleshooting to include Cisco routing and switching devices, Cisco Firewalls, HPE Server Hardware and switching technology
  • Experience in designing and supporting virtualized datacenter based on VMWare ESXi. Nutanix experience is a plus, not required.
  • Microsoft Server Administrator (Microsoft Certification (MCSE) preferred)
  • Proficient with PowerShell Scripting
  • Experience with Linux RedHat and CentOS
  • Moderate to high level knowledge in Microsoft Security Services in Active Directory (AD), Lightweight Directory Services (LDS), File Service Security, and Dynamic Access Control (DAC)
  • Knowledge in performing schema changes to MS AD and LD
  • Proficient at scripting Python/Bash/YAML/Powershell/C /VBS

Certification:

  • Must have a Security certification

Position requires active Security Clearance with appropriate Polygraph
