Job Summary

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory is seeking a highly skilled Cyber Security Engineer 3 to join our team. As a key member of our cybersecurity team, you will be responsible for identifying mission challenges and formulating engineering solutions to support our cyber operations activities and systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and Mitigate Risks: Utilize your expertise to identify potential security threats and develop effective mitigation strategies to protect our systems and data.
  • Design and Implement Security Solutions: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement secure systems and architectures that meet the needs of our organization.
  • Conduct Security Assessments: Perform regular security assessments to identify vulnerabilities and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Develop and Implement Security Policies: Work with leadership to develop and implement security policies and procedures that align with industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure that security requirements are met and that systems are designed and implemented to meet those requirements.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field, and 5+ years of relevant work experience, or Master's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field, and 3+ years of relevant work experience, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field, and 1+ year of relevant work experience.
  • Security Clearance: Must have an active TS/SCI security clearance and be able to maintain such a clearance.
  • Skills and Knowledge: Familiarity with telecommunications and IT systems, knowledge of optical and IP networks, experience with systems integration, test and evaluation, installation and acceptance testing, and in-operation test and evaluation, understanding of current cybersecurity vulnerabilities and operational landscape, familiarity with design, development and implementation of countermeasures, cyber security systems integration, and manages tools specific to cyber security operations, and experience in developing and presenting material to communicate project status and challenges.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a federal security clearance. The selected candidate will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter in accordance with 10 CFR 710, Appendix B.

The selected candidate will also be subject to pre-employment and random drug testing for illegal drugs, including marijuana, consistent with the Controlled Substances Act and the PNNL Workplace Substance Abuse Program.
