Reporting to the President of RPM, the VP of Clinical Practice is accountable for leading and delivering high quality clinical care at scale. In conjunction with senior leaders from the Care Delivery Operations team and Care Delivery Quality and Safety team, the VP of Clinical Practice will seek to scale the clinical practice in order to deliver care that patients want and in a way that providers and staff love.

You will oversee a rapidly growing team that currently consists of over 150 full-time and contract doctors, nurses, nurse practitioners and patient advocates (similar to medical assistants), who are all working together to help patients achieve their health goals. The team is currently focused on a number of practice and performance management initiatives, such as optimizing practice structure to accommodate the rapid increase in providers; improved forecasting of staffing models based on rapidly increasing patient volume; incorporating practice service opportunities via peer committees; advancing practice standardization and brand as the practice grows; and enhancing the effective use of technology to achieve provider and patient goals. The team is also creating and designing initiatives to update provider training and education, and improve incentive structures, and recently launched new principles all in service of cultivating a culture of clinically excellent care enabled by technology.

What You'll Do:

  • Patient Care:
  • Deliver high-quality medical care to patients and model what it means to deliver excellent medical care via implementation of the RPM care model, embodiment of RPM principles, and successful achievement of exceeding RPM performance metrics
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality care across the practice vis a vis clear practice standards, guidelines and expectation, continuous performance management, and collaboration with cross-functional teams
  • Directly supervise the clinical performance of all practitioners within the practice
  • Partner with the Care Delivery Quality and Safety team to measure and improve patient health outcomes across existing and new conditions
  • Design and update clinical guidelines and protocols focused on standardizing high quality care and a delightful patient experience by leveraging RPM's large internal patient data set, publicly available peer-reviewed research and RPM medical advisor expert opinion and experience with patient care
  • In collaboration with Care Delivery Operations, ensure execution of new workflows and successful launch of new initiatives and ensure continuous improvement of workflows by surfacing feedback to cross-functional teams and giving feedback to practitioners and practice leaders on the adoption and implementation of new workflows
  • Partner with Ro clinical teams on the design and implementation of new conditions, products and features within Ro's Care Center (home-grown EMR)
  • Performance Management:
  • Translate a magical bedside manner to "webside" manner to scale hospitality healthcare
  • Execute performance management process, ensuring high quality care and productivity that matches the scale of care delivered at RPM
  • Drive continuous quality improvement through partnership with the Quality and Safety and Care Delivery Operations teams
  • Execute the implementation of the care delivery event (CDE) process and surface emergent patient issues
  • Train, onboard and continuously educate, train and develop the clinical practice
  • Implement a system of continuous structured feedback aimed at building and maintain and high performing practice
  • Optimize process of provider performance evaluation, feedback / reviews and
  • Partner with Care Delivery team to align provider incentives and compensation with the Practice's goal and objective of building a high performing practice that delivers high quality care at scale
  • Practice Management:
  • Cultivate and lead a strong and engaged clinical practice
  • Partner with medical operations to develop and execute work allocation to maximize the patient experience across multiple stages in the patient journey and conditions treated on the platform
  • Oversee peer review and practitioner-powered committees within the practice
  • Partner with the People team to recruit and retain the best clinical workforce
  • Operate with ownership, running a clinical practice that scales to meet the increasing demands and needs of our nationwide patient base
  • Ensure execution of the Quality Assurance (peer-review) committee and Practice Product (collect and synthesize feedback on home-grown EMR) committee
  • Work with Care Delivery to track overall practice success (e.g., patient satisfaction, retention, etc.) and implement improvements (e.g., training, scheduling, etc.) to improve patient satisfaction and clinical results
  • Partner with Legal to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements (e.g.,licensing, credentialing) and adopt industry best practices
  • Partner with Finance and Care Delivery to continuously improve the cost of care
  • Work closely with and partner with the VP of Nursing Practice and Care Delivery team (Insurance, Customer Support, and Medical Operations) to ensure a seamless and delightful experience across care journey

Who you are:

  • Required Minimum Education:
  • Medical Degree ( MD, DO, or equivalent)
  • Board Certification via American Board of Medical Specialities or American Board of Osteopathic Medicine
  • Current and Active Unrestricted license to practice medicine with ability to be licensed in other US States
  • Required Minimum Experience:
  • Oversight and delivery of direct patient care via telehealth and virtual care
  • 10+ years of direct patient care in an outpatient setting
  • 5+ years of experience in clinical leadership roles, leading and coaching providers to be the best they can be for their patients and their colleagues.
  • Experience using a metrics-driven approach to the provision of medical care and/or quality projects
  • Demonstrated experience managing and scaling a high performing clinical practice
  • Demonstrated track record of operating clinical practices that are dynamic and able to meet the demands and needs of patients in a timely manner
  • Strong experience implementing continuous quality improvement initiatives across different clinical care provider workflows
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective teams and the ability to drive vision and purpose
  • Bonus experience:
  • Current experience at the VP/SVP/COO level for an ambulatory or virtual care delivery program
  • Advanced management degree (MHA, MBA, MHCDS)

The target base salary for this position ranges from $308,000 to $362,000, in addition to a competitive equity and benefits package (as applicable). When determining compensation, we analyze and carefully consider several factors, including location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. These considerations may cause your compensation to vary.

Ro recognizes the power of in-person collaboration, while supporting the flexibility to work anywhere in the United States. For our Ro'ers in the tri-state (NY) area, you will join us at HQ on Tuesdays and Thursdays. For those outside of the tri-state area, you will be able to join in-person collaborations throughout the year (i.e., during team on-sites).
