We are currently looking for a Systems Safety Specialist to support safety through design in the High-Level Waste (HLW) teams at our Richland, WA location. This position will involve conducting system safety analysis, reviewing design documents, providing technical assistance, and ensuring project safety in accordance with relevant regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct system safety analysis for new and modified processes
- Review design documents and provide recommendations
- Perform hazard analyses of hardware, processes, and equipment
- Ensure project safety compliance with relevant regulations
- Provide technical support to various teams
- Identify hazards and develop risk mitigation strategies
- Support the Waste Treatment Plant Nuclear Safety Quality Culture
- Help create a positive work environment
Qualifications and Skills:
Basic Qualifications:
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Professional Engineer (PE)
- In-depth experience in system safety analysis techniques
- Knowledge of international codes and U.S. standards
- Experience as a team player and value-based leader
- Excellent technical and managerial skills
- Level 1: Bachelor's degree plus six years of experience, or twelve years of experience without a degree
- Level 2: Bachelor's degree plus nine years of experience, or fifteen years of experience without a degree
Minimum Qualifications:
- Pass pre-employment screenings and background checks
- Obtain necessary security clearances
- Legal right to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in hazardous waste treatment facilities or similar environments
- Training in human factor analysis or human performance
