The project:

We are hiring an ambitious and forward-thinking a risk specialist - transit and rail to join our established and growing team in New York.

In this position they will be responsible for the promotion, set up and implementation of a risk management system, making it appropriate to the needs of the project through the project lifecycle.

You'll be responsible for:

Facilitating and delivering risk workshops.
Developing risk register and reviews with key stakeholder(s).
Working with project manager to recognise threats, opportunities and mitigation actions.
Supporting risk management performance.
Implementing risk framework(s)/strategy(s) on assigned commission(s) effectively.
Building strong professional relationships with key stakeholder(s) both internal and external.
Providing advice and supporting to project team in the administration of the risk process, particularly with respect to the risks to achievement of key objectives and risk escalation.
Ensuring risk mitigation action plans are developed, owners appointed, and project plans are updated and monitored.
Supporting the delivery of project quantitative risk analysis (cost and time).
Commenting on the adequacy of contingency as part of the regular reporting cycle.
Delivering monthly risk reports, externally to client and internally to project team.
Ensuring all activities/operations are carried out in line with Mace control centre, client requirements and prevailing federal legislative framework(s).
Actively engaging in the integration of risk with other PMO and planning disciplines.
Assisting in loss adjustment negotiations with insurance carriers and brokers.
Developing risk management and loss prevention programs.
Interpreting and applying the organization's policies and offers recommendations for changes in procedures.

You'll need to have:

Degree with risk management experience including evidence of delivery of major programs and/or programmes.
New York/New Jersey specific experience.
Experience using enterprise risk management tools, for example, Active Risk Manager (ARM), Predict and Xactium.
Ability to adapt to new situations and to react objectively and expeditiously to critical and emergency construction operation engineering problems.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Computer literacy.
Potential to perform in a lead capacity.

You'll also have:

Certified Risk Management Professional (RIMS)
Membership of professional risk management body e.g. RIMS, GARP.
Amtrak, MNRR, LIRR, NJT, NYC, MTA experience preferred.
Evidence of good potential growth shown by satisfactory performance in past positions.
