Philanthropy Director

Upaya's fundraising strategy includes a balance of major gifts,
institutional support, events, and broad-based giving. The right
person for this role will enjoy managing a variety of activities,
but especially direct donor interaction. As a member of a
relatively small team, the Philanthropy Director will experience
significant autonomy in setting direction for the organization's
individual fundraising strategy and representing the organization
in the community.

The Philanthropy Director will set strategy, execute on
campaigns, and oversee all aspects of Upaya's individual
fundraising, working closely with the CEO, and supported by a
Senior Associate. This role works closely with the Upaya Marketing
Manager.

The Philanthropy Director will report to the CEO and be a member
of the management team.

In this position you will:
Develop and implement effective
fundraising strategies for major donors, broad-based giving, and
support foundation outreach.
Direct and participate in the
face-to-face cultivation and solicitation of $25,000+ gifts,
including managing a portfolio of donors, identifying, qualifying,
and cultivating new prospects.
Provide leadership and support to
board members to assist in prospect identification and cultivation,
training, solicitation and stewardship.
Supervise the planning and executing
of our annual gala, responsible for 25% of the organization's
budget
Design and launch a new events
strategy in multiple cities
Represent the organization within the
community by attending and actively participating in appropriate
internal and external functions and events.
Support grant proposals and review
other donor materials as necessary.

Qualifications:
Minimum five (5) years of development
experience
Proven track record managing a
portfolio of major donors
Experience with international
development a plus
Experience with communications a
plus
Comfort with rolling up your sleeves
to get things done, using technology to make life easier, and
thinking outside the box.
