Boulder, Colorado, United States Unsupervised Full time

About Unsupervised

Unsupervised has pioneered a new type of Artificial Intelligence based on unsupervised machine learning that automatically finds insights in data, empowering companies to make smarter, data-informed decisions. Major enterprises use Unsupervised to inform decisions across the business. We're tackling one of the biggest problems faced by companies today (data overwhelm), with proven leadership, a world-class team, and a game-changing product.

The Opportunity

Unsupervised is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join our innovative team for our Prediction efforts. This is an exciting role for a talented software engineer looking for a high-impact position at a growing company. Our unique AI finds patterns in data that no other machine learning techniques can, and we are looking for someone who understands traditional modeling techniques well to hybridize existing techniques with our pattern-discovery API.

Many companies lightly wrap LLM APIs and call it AI; Unsupervised has true depth in the space. If you want to be part of real innovation in the AI space and you have the drive and talent to be successful, this is the role for you.

What you'll do:

As a Lead Software Engineer at Unsupervised, your responsibilities include:

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient software solutions. Contribute to all phases of the software development lifecycle, from ideation to deployment and maintenance. As a Lead, you will not just design and write code, but will be a major shaper of the product. That means we need people who can think about the real end-user experience and advocate for solutions that the end-customers will love. Write high-quality, maintainable, and testable code, adhering to best practices and coding standards. Participate in code reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback to improve overall code quality. Continuously learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies to stay up-to-date with industry trends.

What you'll need:

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Math or a related field. Talented engineers without a degree but with demonstrable expertise will also be considered. 3+ years of software development experience, preferably in a high-growth startup environment. Strong Python experience. Rust and Ruby experience is a plus Experience building models programmatically. This is not about being a SciKit user – this is about having made systems that train models with heuristics and automation Experience with testing modeling systems. Comfort with modern software development tools and practices, such as Git, Agile methodologies, and continuous integration/deployment. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work well in a collaborative team environment. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and effectively. A passion for learning, growing, and staying current with emerging technologies.

Compensation Range:

$145k-$185k + equity

Perks & Benefits:

Great health, vision, and dental care Competitive compensation 401K match Unlimited vacation

Company Culture:

Our mission is serious, but our culture is fun, authentic, and designed to take care of the wonderful people who spend time here. We think deeply about how we work and constantly try to build a workplace and culture that will improve your daily work. We have a great culture that cares about the experience of employees, and we only hire employees who want to be part of sustaining that culture.

Additional Information:Remote Work Policy

This role is primarily a remote position, allowing you to enjoy the flexibility and comfort of working from your preferred location. However, we believe in the importance of in-person interactions for fostering team culture and addressing significant challenges. As such, you will be required to travel occasionally for team meetings and collaborative sessions (~4 times per year). This approach allows us to maintain a strong sense of unity, camaraderie, and effective problem-solving, while still offering the benefits of remote work.

By balancing remote work with occasional in-person collaboration, we aim to create a dynamic and inclusive work environment that supports productivity, innovation, and employee well-being.
