Ansys Government Initiatives (AGI) is seeking an experienced engineer, familiar with mission engineering best practices, digital engineering and model-based systems engineering. Join the Ansys Customer Excellence team to explore the benefits and challenges associated with enterprise-wide digital engineering environments. The Digital Engineering Lab is building on that innovation by engaging with our customers throughout their digital transformation journey to understand the problem at scale and provide feedback and recommendations to the Ansys product management and customer support teams.

Based out of the AGI headquarters office in Exton, PA, the Digital Engineering Lab Engineer (DE Lab Engineer) will be participating in advanced investigations into product capabilities as they are applied to customer use cases with specific focus on creating actionable feedback for Product Management and Product Development purposes. These activities will include developing and evaluating customer use cases, designing and prototyping new workflows, supporting the sales teams with direct customer interactions including trainings and product and workflow demonstrations. These activities will also include producing high quality internal and external educational resources.

The DE Lab Engineer must be highly motivated, goal oriented, flexible and a creative problem solver. The Lab activities will often be on the leading edge of technology with very few existing resources to help guide the engineer as well as frequently open-ended problems where the engineer must add definition and set appropriate goals.

A successful DE Lab Engineer will advance Ansys product capabilities and streamline integration with partner products through their understanding of customer use cases. As a key player in all lab output, the DE Lab Engineer will have many opportunities to learn complex capabilities and teach those skills to the rest of the Ansys organization.

Key responsibilities include

  • Lead/Assist in coordinating and executing all technical activities throughout the sales opportunity lifecycle such as technical discovery, product presentations, demonstrations and evaluations
  • As a product expert with one or more Ansys products, interact with customers to understand their product design needs and engineering design workflows; analyze how to address customers' requirements using Ansys products and platform; articulate Ansys' value proposition
  • Collaborate with the Ansys product development teams to translate customer requirements into exciting new product features; test new releases of Ansys products on industrial problems
  • Support Ansys field and digital marketing
  • Contribute to consulting services, conduct introductory and/or intermediate training classes

Ideal candidates meet or exceed the following qualifications

  • Required education and degree type: MS in Mechanical/Chemical//Aerospace/Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Required minimum years of professional experience in an engineering software environment: MS+0
  • Demonstrated use of relevant Ansys software or knowledge of other commercial CAE, CAD, EDA, PLM software packages
  • Logical problem-solving, strong interpersonal and communication skills, fluent in writing and speaking English
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, possesses a sense of urgency
  • Projects a professional image and demonstrates business acumen, driven to succeed
  • Ability to travel domestically up to 25% of time
  • Intermediate coding/scripting experience (emphasis on C# and python)
  • Direct experience supporting mission engineering customers with a strong awareness of usability issues and typical customer challenges.
  • Domain experience across the entire Aerospace and Defense industry (eg. aviation, spacecraft, communications and remote sensing

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Preferred education and years of professional experience in an engineering software environment: MS+3, or PhD+0
  • Ability to travel domestically up to 50% of time
  • Experience with
    • Containerization and Kubernetes
    • Model Based Systems Engineering and SysML
    • Remote execution and/or building web services
  • Familiarity with
    • AWS and/or Azure cloud hosting
