Job Description:
Discover is seeking an energetic, detailed oriented, and analytical Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) Senior Analyst to join our Operational Risk Management (ORM) team. This role will report to the ORM Senior Manager and partner with key business stakeholders and other risk program owners. This exciting opportunity will assist in the execution of the RCSA program across Discover Financial Services (DFS) and be responsible for working with the 1st Line of Defense to identify risks and controls and provide effective challenge of RCSA results during annual risk assessments and process reviews. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for developing and managing the company-wide operational risk taxonomies among other RCSA framework elements. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast paced, evolving environment, and have functional knowledge of applicable best practices and regulatory expectations for Operational Risk. Familiarity with the financial services regulatory environment, risk and control identification / assessment, firmwide implementation of operational risk processes, and ERM systems of record (e.g., Archer) is essential. Knowledge of consumer lending processes is plus.

How You'll Do It

  • Implement and oversee the RCSA program, including the annual attestation, quality oversight, process management, and reporting.
  • Manage company policy, standards, and procedures to ensure the RCSA program is executed in accordance with the ORM framework.
  • Develop and maintain ORM taxonomies, tools, and methodologies to support accurate assessment of risks and control environment.
  • Assist in the development of training, communication, and awareness programs to drive effective RCSA program adoption and promote a strong culture of risk management.
  • Apply a structured methodology and lead change management activities associated with RCSA (i.e. RAU changes, schedule changes, program methodology changes, etc.) which includes, maintaining relevant documentation, track and monitor status of change management activities and delivery and management of key communications.
  • Implement and oversee the RCSA program, including the annual attestation, effective challenge, process management, and reporting. Leverage company policy, standards, and procedures to ensure the RCSA program is executed in accordance with the ORM framework.
  • Develop and maintain ORM taxonomies, tools, and methodologies to support accurate assessment of risks and control environment.
  • Serve as a SME for the 1st Line of Defense, supporting proper identification of operational risks and establishing adequate control environment.
  • Assist in the development of training, communication, and awareness programs to drive effective RCSA program adoption and promote a strong culture of risk management.


Qualifications You'll Need
The Basics

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Project Management, Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of experience Developing/management RCSA for Financial Institutions
  • 5+ years of knowledge in banking products, processes and regulations
  • 5+ years of experience with GRC tools (ex. Archer, etc.)
  • 5+ years of Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)


Bonus Points If You Have

  • 5+ years of experience mapping complex processes and identifying control points.
  • 5+ years of experience with implementation or improvements of risk assessment processes and methodologies.
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills

  • 5+ years of experience in Consumer Lending products and processes

The base pay for this position generally ranges between $88,500.00 to $149, Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package.
