This role is pivotal within Argo AI, focusing on the evaluation and management of insurance-related risks. The Insurance Risk Manager will play a critical part in overseeing the Insurance Risk and Control Framework, collaborating closely with underwriting and actuarial teams to enhance processes related to underwriting and reserves.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, evaluate, manage, and report on all insurance risks pertinent to Argo AI, both gross and net of reinsurance.
  • Establish and maintain key risk indicators (KRIs) and RAG trigger limits to effectively monitor risk exposure trends.
  • Contribute to the formulation of the Insurance risk appetite and continuously monitor the risk profile to preempt potential breaches.
  • Challenge and provide insights on the management of Insurance risks, including contributions to the annual ORSA and business plan risk reviews.
  • Collaborate with the Economic Capital Modelling team, particularly in calibrating insurance risk and analyzing outputs.
  • Support the development of robust systems and controls to manage exposure to insurance risk aggregations.
  • Engage with Actuarial teams to conduct regular assessments of pricing and reserving processes, identifying key risk drivers and trends.
  • Enhance the visibility of risk management practices and promote understanding across the business.
  • Design and develop risk management information (MI) that provides oversight of current risk issues and anticipates future risks.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Proven experience in managing cross-product line risk aggregation or conducting quantitative portfolio analysis.
  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of facilitating discussions at various organizational levels.
  • Strong understanding of the General insurance sector and Insurance Risk management.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to create a roadmap and secure stakeholder buy-in.
  • Analytical proficiency, utilizing data and analytics for effective risk management.
  • Self-motivated and innovative, willing to challenge the status quo.
  • Collaborative approach, fostering strong relationships and teamwork.
  • Strong organizational skills, ensuring efficient planning and execution of tasks.

Qualifications:

  • Strong academic background, including a university degree.
  • Relevant Insurance/Risk qualifications are advantageous.

Technical Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in underwriting, pricing, or portfolio management.
  • Alternatively, experience in assurance roles with a deep understanding of underwriting risk.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of risk management frameworks.
  • Strong numerical, report writing, and presentation capabilities.
  • Experience in a multinational (re)insurance environment, fulfilling regulatory obligations.
  • Solid understanding of underwriting, ceded reinsurance, actuarial, and risk management functions.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders across various levels.
