As an Environmental Protection Specialist, the incumbent:
- Works with pertinent HUD program staff in one or more public program areas throughout the agency to implement the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), as well as all related federal and HUD laws and policies, through incorporation into CDBG-DR programs and project implementation.
- Formulates, plans, and carries out projects related to environmental reviews and advisories, providing detailed plans and support services to program personnel or to program stakeholders.
- Reviews and analyzes CDBG-DR allocation notices and grantee action plans to assist in grantee development of allocation specific environmental compliance protocols.
- Assists grantees in developing standard operating procedures for administering their CDBG-DR programs in compliance with 24 CFR Part 58 including procedures to adopt environmental reviews from Federal Agencies, when CDBG-DR funding is used to supplement Federal assistance under disaster appropriations.
- Reviews and develops training materials for HUD staff, CDBG-DR grantees, and clients on the administration of HUD environmental policies for CDBG-DR activities.
