Founded in 1889, BGA is a K-12th grade college preparatory school located in Franklin, TN. Serving a diverse student population from the surrounding counties, the school embodies the core values of character, scholarship, and excellence in all facets of campus life.

BGA is the oldest school in Franklin, a remarkable city located just 20 miles south of Nashville. It has been referred to as "a small-town gem" by the New York Times. The downtown is filled with locally-owned shops, and restaurants, and Main Street is home to iconic venues such as the Franklin Theater. Franklin features an abundance of historical sites and parks appealing to those who enjoy history and/or the outdoors. Quaint and welcoming, Franklin is truly a wonderful place to call home

Key Responsibilities:

Administrative and Operational Support:

  • Provide administrative support to the advancement team, including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and maintaining calendars.
  • Assist with the coordination of fundraising campaigns, appeals, and special events.
  • Serve as a liaison between the advancement office and other departments or external vendors as needed.

Database Management and Administration:

  • Oversee the maintenance and integrity of the donor database (e.g., Blackbaud Raiser's Edge), ensuring accurate and up-to-date donor records.
  • Manage gift processing procedures, including gift entry, acknowledgment, and reconciliation.
  • Generate regular reports and dashboards to track fundraising progress and performance.

Fundraising Operations Strategy:

  • Collaborate with the advancement team to develop and implement strategic plans for fundraising operations.
  • Provide insights and recommendations on fundraising strategies, donor segmentation, and cultivation tactics.

Prospect Development:

  • Lead prospect research and identification efforts to expand the donor pipeline.
  • Conduct in-depth research on prospects' philanthropic interests, giving capacity, and connections to the organization.
  • Create comprehensive prospect profiles and briefings to support cultivation and solicitation efforts.

Donor Stewardship and Engagement:

  • Support the development and execution of donor stewardship plans to recognize and retain donors.
  • Coordinate the production of stewardship materials, such as thank-you letters, impact reports, and donor recognition plaques.
  • Assist in planning and executing donor cultivation events and activities.
Requirements
  • Ability to achieve goals, organize and establish priorities effectively and work collaboratively with a high level of motivation
  • Knowledge of current strategic advancement policies and best practices
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically and manage multiple areas of activity simultaneously
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with Blackbaud Raiser's Edge or comparable donor management database preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with all the school's constituents while maintaining absolute confidentiality and professionalism in appearance, attitude, and presentation
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field
  • Strong data management skills, including use of Blackbaud, word processing, and spreadsheets
  • Proficient in the use of computer applications (email, calendars, etc.) as required
  • Ability to work independently

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Ability to occasionally lift to 30 pounds
  • Works in a high-paced environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied diverse array of contacts. Work includes several weeknight and weekend events throughout the year
  • Work primarily in a traditional climate-controlled office environment
  • May work in varied extreme outside weather conditions during special activities/events, including extreme heat and cold
  • May work at a desk and/or computer for extended periods
