About the Opportunity

The Roux Institute is hiring a manager of Academic Partnerships, to develop, build and optimize academic partnerships. Reporting to the Managing Director of Strategic Partnerships, the Associate Director of Partnerships will plan, develop, and manage the Roux Institute's academic partnerships and programming for a deep integration with Roux Institute academic partners. This is an exciting opportunity to shape, steward, and manage academic relationships, programs, and partnerships with Roux Institute strategic initiatives. The focus of this position is to manage initiatives and relationships with institutions of higher education and, where appropriate, K-12 and affiliated nonprofits. The substance of the partnerships will build and deploy products and pathways for learners to engage in opportunities at the Roux and in Maine. If successful, these models can also be implemented at other Northeastern campus locations. The focus of the position is to develop strong academic partnerships that grow and mature over time and ensure positive partner experiences and to maximize the strategic value of each academic partnership to create a lasting impact on Maine's economy. The role requires strong institutional awareness and excellent communication both externally and cross-functionally within the organization. The Associate Director will possess the ability to propose or enact a vision for each partnership and to see that vision through to execution.

Minimum Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess the following skills, dispositions, experience, and qualifications.

  • The ability to establish relationships with key contacts at partner organizations
  • The ability to develop a strategy for each partner rooted in partner goals and aligned to the Roux Institute mission
  • Excellent problem-solving and strong analytical skills with proven ability to strategize and prioritize to meet goals and deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills, sufficient to inspire others and work effectively and collaboratively with colleagues
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; the ability to write clearly and concisely (e.g. a program overview document)

  • Familiarity working with high-level decision-makers within varying sizes of organizations
  • Familiarity with systems of higher education and creative methods for academic pathways, including prior learning assessment, 4+1 programs, and joint agreements across academic institutions

  • Familiarity with higher education accreditation systems, requirements, and ideas for creative new programs and partnerships within accreditation requirements that have the potential to reach new audiences

  • Knowledge and skills required are typically acquired through a B.A. degree (master's preferred) and a minimum of 5 years of professional work experience; 2+ years of experience in program management, relationship management, strategic planning, program operations, and/or special projects or related field. Experience starting and implementing programs; working with academic faculty implementing first-of-their-kind programs at an institution; and supporting non-traditional students through coaching, mentoring, and program support

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

1) Support and run at least two significant academic partnerships leading to lasting outcomes for learners in Maine, Roux enrollment, and the economy of Maine, including relationship and strategy management. Running these programs will include all aspects of the program, from design to recruitment, to execution, and evaluating effectiveness.

2) Track and report on the effectiveness of new academic partnerships, including partner satisfaction, student outcomes, Maine economic impacts, and other key indicators to be determined through the strategic roadmap of the partnership.

3) Engage in creative ways to create learning pathways for students within accreditation requirements, including prior learning assessment, integrating work within programs, and offering flexible ways to move within the worlds of work and study.

4) Represent the Roux institute/be an ambassador at key academic partner events and scope future possible partnerships once two central partnerships are effectively implemented and managed.
