Position Overview

Prime Medicine is seeking an experienced, dependable and dedicated Associate Scientist / Senior Associate Scientist who is well-versed in Next Generation Sequencing with experience in a GMP environment to join the cross-collaborative and purpose-drive On-Target NGS team in supporting Prime Medicine's drug discovery and development pipeline. The role requires in-depth technical knowledge of and experience with NGS sample processing and Illumina sequencing. The successful candidate will support the implementation and optimization of automated NGS library workflows as well as Illumina sequencer operation. Experience in executing high-throughput genomics workflows for both GMP testing and R&D experiments is ideal.

Responsibilities

  • Support the execution, development and validation of GMP and R&D NGS-based workflows.
  • Operation, regular maintenance and troubleshooting of automated liquid handlers and Illumina sequencers.
  • Tracking and documentation of instrument maintenance, NGS reagents, samples and sequencing QC metrics in LIMS systems.
  • Collaborate closely with R&D scientists, automation, informatics and bioinformatics to execute R&D sample submissions using high-throughput NGS.
  • Drive the transition of assays from development to production by working with members of the R&D and automation teams.
  • Perform other related duties and ad hoc projects as required by position and in support of the On-Target NGS team.

Qualifications:

  • B.S./M.S. in molecular biology, biotechnology, or other relevant scientific degree.
  • 2-3+ years of hands-on experience in NGS library preparation and sequencing.
  • 2+ years of experience in a GMP lab
  • Technical experience with Illumina sequencing platforms.
  • Experience using a LIMS system for sample tracking and processing and experimental documentation.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality NGS data.
  • Experience with laboratory automation, particularly NGS on liquid handlers, is a plus.
  • Assay validation and implementation experience, is a plus.
