The STEAM Truck Curriculum Leader will develop curriculum and instructional materials to be used for implementation for the new dedicated Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan (GSSEM) Mobile STEAM Truck.

The STEAM Truck Curriculum Leader will work with the STEAM Department to develop robust programming for children in Grades K-5 to participate in on GSSEM's Mobile STEAM Truck, including how to best implement for each grade level.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop instructional materials, curriculum, and curriculum training guides for participants and facilitators, including slide presentations, guides, activities, worksheets, or other performance tools.
  • Create content that is accurate as well as consistent with the principles of quality educational lessons and assessment design.
  • Create and nurture relationships within the curriculum development community, curriculum partners, and all GSSEM stakeholders.
  • Develop instruction guides and other support materials for a variety of programs that will be taught as a part of GSSEM's Mobile STEAM Truck programming.
  • Work with internal staff members to ensure that the appropriate curriculum information transfers appropriately to the booking site.
  • Communicate with the internal staff regarding any curriculum and instructional material gaps that need to be addressed before the Mobile STEAM Truck rollout.
  • Conduct thorough research when needed to ensure curriculum content is accurate, current, and aligned with educational standards and internal plans for the Mobile STEAM Truck outcomes.
  • Identify appropriate progression across grade levels for each program.
  • Effectively use best practices in principles of learning.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in education, curriculum development, instructional design, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Knowledge in two or more of the following areas: Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics.
  • Experience writing and delivering curriculum, lesson plans, and/or instructional materials including training materials for K-5 content.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience teaching elementary students. Teaching experience in STEAM preferred.
  • Self-Motivated, independent, and able to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
  • Proven and consistent track record of meeting project deadlines with quality results.
  • Strong writing and editing skills to create clear, concise, and engaging educational materials. Attention to detail is crucial to ensure accuracy and quality.
  • Familiarity with instructional design principles and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with state and national educational standards, such as, Next Generation Science Standards, or other relevant benchmarks.
  • Proficiency with technology and software.
  • Ability to receive creative direction and feedback.
  • Ability to learn new activities to help deliver new ideas for K-5 students.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize appropriately.
  • Ability to work well with others.
Essential Requirements
  • Demonstrated skill in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn additional computer programs such as Salesforce.
  • Demonstrated skills in creative thinking, problem solving and innovation.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule that may include some evening and weekend hours.
