Position Overview:

The Early Learning Lead at Focus: HOPE plays a pivotal role in the educational journey of children aged 3-5 years. This position encompasses the comprehensive planning, assessment, and instruction tailored to meet the unique needs of each child. Additionally, the Lead is tasked with upholding program excellence and maintaining necessary documentation as mandated by state regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and arrange for substitute educators within the classroom.
  • Promote a collaborative team environment, ensuring effective coordination of services and resource sharing.
  • Conduct monthly safety inspections, fire drills, and safety meetings, while maintaining the Safety Log.
  • Investigate incidents involving children or staff, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed and relevant authorities are notified.
  • Participate in Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) and Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings as required.
  • Design and equip indoor and outdoor learning spaces to cater to children's developmental and safety requirements, adhering to budget constraints.
  • Ensure children receive adequate outdoor playtime daily.
  • Foster a positive community presence through networking, volunteer engagement, and educational outreach regarding program needs.
  • Monitor compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including health, safety, and licensing standards.
  • Ensure adherence to quality assurance and program evaluation protocols.
  • Regularly report to the immediate supervisor and/or Program Director regarding center activities and status.
  • Maintain familiarity with and comply with the Focus: HOPE Early Learning handbook.
  • Plan and create a nurturing, safe, and developmentally appropriate learning environment that supports kindergarten readiness as per Head Start Program Performance Standards.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that include hands-on activities, considering individual student needs and abilities.
  • Collaborate with parents, administrators, and specialists to implement educational programs for students with diverse learning needs.
  • Establish a flexible classroom environment that prioritizes student success and maximizes potential.
  • Observe, assess, and document student progress regularly.
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child's development.
  • Work with appropriate personnel to develop mainstream instructional strategies.
  • Maintain classroom structure and keep accurate attendance records.
  • Promote respect and self-esteem among all individuals, regardless of abilities.
  • Adhere to program curriculum and state licensing requirements for childcare centers.
  • Regularly assess children's development, analyze data, and create individualized plans or referrals as necessary.
  • Design daily lesson plans that encompass all areas of the program's curriculum, focusing on social-emotional, cognitive, language, literacy, and physical development.
  • Provide daily guidance and support to classroom staff, volunteers, and interns through effective communication and modeling.
  • Build strong relationships with families to enhance parent-child interactions and encourage positive family activities.
  • Assist other program areas with direct and indirect services, providing community resources for families.
  • Address child and family needs in collaboration with the Site Leader and Family Service worker.
  • Set daily and weekly goals that promote educational plans with parental involvement.
  • Prepare materials in advance to support lesson plans and curriculum activities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • While fulfilling job responsibilities, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and communicate. Occasionally, the employee may need to sit, use hands for various tasks, and may lift or move items up to 50 pounds. Specific vision capabilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Supervision:

Supervision and guidance will be provided by the Site Manager and Education Specialist.
