We focus on enhancing situational awareness, tactical command and control, and seamless video data exchange capabilities within a dynamic, multi-domain environment.

Job Description
Join Ultra Intelligence & Communications (I&C) in a pivotal role as an Accounting Specialist As part of our team, you'll spearhead the accurate and timely processing of multi-state US payroll and oversee post-payroll accounting activities. Your expertise will directly impact a diverse territory of 250 exempt and non-exempt employees, including those on commission-based incentive plans.

Essential Duties:

  • Back up for all aspects of payroll for exempt and non-exempt employees, including bonus and commission processing, as needed. Report payroll information to applicable stakeholders.
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness in reports and transactions, including system setup, tax remittance, unemployment compensation, 401K transmission files, and general ledger files.
  • Record and manage data concerning new hires, promotions, terminations, W4 forms, direct deposit, and wage garnishments.
  • Review and process expense reports, following up on those needing attention, in Deltek Costpoint Time and Expense.
  • Prepares accounting journal entries as well as general ledgers and reconciliations of payroll related accounts in a timely manner.
  • Address urgent payroll issues promptly, such as special payroll runs, manual check calculations, and resolution of tax remittance issues.
  • Records paid time off accruals, leave pay, and nontaxable wages for assigned business units.
  • Oversee year-end operational closure, including reconciliation, distribution of W2 forms, and compliance with tax filing regulations.
  • Assist as needed with internal and external payroll audits such as workers' compensation, tax filings, and associated documentation as required.
  • Generate periodic reports detailing earnings, taxes, deductions, and nontaxable wages. Serve as a point of contact for wage tax-related queries. Develops ad hoc reports as required.
  • Ensure integrity of all payroll data in compliance with company policies and government regulations.
  • Offer recommendations for process and policy improvements aligned with government compliance and best practices.
  • Assist the Accounting Manager in problem-solving, special projects, and collaboration with ADP Client Representatives.
  • Assist with month end close as needed.
  • Ad-hoc reporting as needed.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of Associate Degree in Accounting or related field.
  • This position requires a US person or non-US person eligible to obtain any required export authorization.
  • Available to work in our Austin, TX office a minimum of twice per week, or as needed (i.e., month-end close).
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Willingness to work effectively independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Ability to communicate information effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Should possess problem analysis and problem resolution skills.
  • Willingness to take initiative to resolve issues.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with Deltek Costpoint.
  • Experience working in the defense industry is desired, but not required.
  • 3+ years of experience processing multi-state payroll, with strong understanding of applicable federal, state, and local payroll and tax laws.
  • Prior experience in Accounts Payable, with proficiency in analyzing expense reports.
  • Prior experience with ADP Workforce Now.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
