JOB DESCRIPTION

Under the supervision of the Educational Policy Development Director, the person assigned to this leadership position shares responsibility for designing and conducting policy analysis and program evaluations of public schools. This is a highly specialized position requiring analytic skills combined with in-depth knowledge, skills, and attitudes regarding equity and civil rights compliance. It also requires the ability to develop and deliver technical assistance and other presentations in a form understood by the customers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identifies, conceptualizes and conducts special evaluation reports relevant to education equity and access issues in public schools, vocational technical centers, and state-operated schools
  • Conducts state level on-site reviews and evaluations and prepares related reports of public schools to review and evaluate the effectiveness of educational equity programs, services, and activities including reviews and evaluations conducted under the Methods of Administration for Vocational Education Programs and under the rules of the Florida Educational Equity Act
  • Serves as Team Leader on site visits and prepares detailed reports of findings
  • Monitors compliance of school districts
  • Lead liaison on preparing administrative support for the Office of Equal Educational Opportunity including maintain tracking systems for receipt and responses to equity updates and other activities in the office
  • Prepares detailed analyses of current state and federal statutes, rules, regulations, and other policy statements, and identifies needed revisions in statutes, rules, and policy affecting educational equity and access programs
  • Assists in the preparation of detailed policy and data analyses, reports and evaluations on the status of educational equity programs for the Commissioner, the State Board of Education, the Legislature and local boards in order to determine the impact of those programs
  • Assists in the implementation of the specific functions assigned by the Florida Educational Equity Act
  • Must be productive under tight timeframes, balance multiple and competing priorities and maintain goal-directed behavior and performance under stressful conditions
  • Attendance is an essential function for this position

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT
