Job Summary
The candidate will conceive, plan, design, and conduct research in developing computationally efficient models to predict high-speed boundary-layer transition. This includes studying optimal boundary-layer receptivity to various types of free-stream disturbances, specifically to complex geometries exhibiting shocks and shock layers.
Essential Job Duties

  • Conceive, plan, and conduct fundamental studies to understand receptivity mechanisms of flat-plate hypersonic boundary layers.
  • Investigate optimal receptivity analysis. Formulate solution strategies for flows involving shock waves.
  • Develop the Caltech Stability and Transition Analysis Toolkit (CSTAT).
  • Authors and/or co-authors results and presents findings in journals, scientific organizations or conferences with Principal Investigator
  • Provide guidance and direction to graduate students, staff and other researchers regarding direction of the project and interpretation of research results.
  • Initiate and develop award proposals with the Principal Investigator to support continued research.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with high-performance computing, design, and conducting laboratory experiments.
