Location Details:

At GoDaddy the future of work looks different for each team. Some teams work in the office full-time, others have a hybrid arrangement (they work remotely some days and in the office some days) and some work entirely remotely.

This is an in-office position and you'll be expected to work full-time in an office location, and therefore must live within commuting distance from your assigned office. You will work from this office beginning on your first day.

This position is not eligible to be performed in Alaska, Mississippi, North Dakota, or the Virgin Islands.

This Data Center Technician will be the advanced technical liaison between the technology teams and the Data Center Environment. You are responsible for troubleshooting and solving the most sophisticated infrastructure issues, with the support of senior-level technicians.

As an experienced technician, you will ensure that the day-to-day tasks of Data Center Operations have been appropriately prioritized best to meet Service Level Agreements with our business partners. With an in-depth understanding of all aspects of Data Center technology, you will provide on-the-job training to other Data Center Technicians to better prepare them for their career.

You understand all aspects of the equipment you support and create and maintain documentation. You know how to innovate and make decisions independently, identifying projects and delivering results with minimal direction.

What you'll get to do...

  • Perform hardware troubleshooting and maintenance for GoDaddy infrastructure, with a focus on mission-critical systems (storage, network, servers)
  • Perform data and power cable management, testing, and installation
  • Find creative ways to optimize capital and operating costs
  • Review quotes and submit a 'Bill of Materials' to maintain inventory levels
  • Respond to all requests from 24x7 business operations centers
  • Prioritize and delegate day-to-day tasks
  • Troubleshoot and resolve sophisticated issues
  • Formulate, affect, interpret, and implement policies and procedures
  • Train and develop junior Technicians according to policy and procedure
  • Expected to improve current processes, and introduce automation with an aim towards simplification and efficiency increases
  • Develop and manage relationships with business partners and third-party vendors with a focus on quality and SLA compliance
  • Responsible for planning and driving small projects with direction from the leadership team

Your experience should include...

  • 1+ years of experience working in a professional Data Center environment
  • Ability to think critically through different scenarios and challenges, while using the proper tools and resources effectively
  • Ability to travel between Data Center sites
  • Ability to kneel, crawl, reach above shoulder height, and lift 50 lbs repeatedly throughout the shift
  • Walk/move about the data center facility for up to 85% of shift time
  • You're able to demonstrate intermediate skills in two or more of these areas:
    • Systems Administration (Linux and/or Windows Servers), Networking Concepts, Programming / Scripting (Java, Perl, Ruby, Python, and/or PHP), Data Center Architecture
  • Intermediate understanding of any of the following IT hardware concepts:
    • RAID, Storage, Hardware diagnostics/repair, SAS/SATA, Boot Process, Boot Loader, File Systems, Network device and protocol configuration, Directory Structure, Base Operating System Install, Some experience with Python, Bash, PowerShell, or Java, Core OS Services: SSH, Telnet, RDP, FTP, NFS, DNS, DHCP, LDAP
  • Work flexible shift hours of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, and participate in an on-call rotation
