GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:

The Receptionist is the first contact for many people entering the facility. The receptionist greets visitors, answers calls and performs clerical duties.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Answers and screens calls in a polite manner and identifies herself/himself and the organization by name.
  • Effectively transfers calls and pages individuals as needed.
  • Greets customers, i.e., family members, visitors, applicants, etc. in a friendly manner and assists when needed. Gives direction/information as needed and when necessary.
  • Ensures that all visitors log in and out.
  • Completes clerical duties as assigned, i.e., sorting mail, preparing patient charts, photocopying, etc.
  • Assist with administrative duties as directed.
  • Assures patient confidentiality.
  • Informs management as necessary and in a timely manner regarding supply orders.
  • Demonstrates the ability to carefully follow oral and written instructions.
  • Works well with internal and external customers and makes every effort to see that their needs are met in a respectful and courteous fashion.
  • Carries-out responsibilities in keeping with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards; alert to potential for internal problems and reports concerns appropriately.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Graduation from high school or equivalent preferred. No prior experience required; will train.
SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

Physical
  • Sufficient mobility to negotiate physical plant.
  • Visual and auditory capabilities sufficient to read information and respond to verbal input.
Mental
  • Cognitive ability to observe and report relevant information in verbal and written formats.
  • Possesses communication and interpersonal relationship skills with ability to respond to events effectively.
Other
  • Flexibility in work schedule and/or assignment to meet time requirements of the position and needs of the facility (which may include weekend, holiday, shift rotation and overtime hours).

Position requires sitting for extended periods of time. Patient/resident contact.
