Harbor Foodservice is looking for an outstanding individual to buy product and manage one of our purchasing desks. This individual will be responsible for procurement and inventory management of items from up to 100 vendor partners.

The pay range is between $67,725 annually and $78,250 annually.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a customer centered focus at all times.
- Work closely with the category managers and sales team to help anticipate customer needs and communicate any issues that may impact our customers in a timely manner.
- Purchase and manage inventory for our foodservice distribution center in Kent, WA.
- Proficiently utilize our buying system, maintaining sales forecasts and correctly performing all item and vendor maintenance.
- Efficiently manage inventory of perishable items, ensuring as little product spoilage as possible while maintaining excellent service levels to customers.
- Manage relationships with vendors and brokers, ensuring our service expectations are met.
- Answer purchasing or vendor related questions from all other associates, including sales associates and operations personnel.
- Manage inventory efficiently, ensuring proper product flow and days on hand.
- Coordinate with Harbor's logistics team to identify and implement opportunities to efficiently manage inbound freight.
- Monitor inventory closely to prevent aged inventory.
- Assist with management of nonstock inventory programs as needed.
- Expedite late orders as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Great communications skills are critical to success in this job. Candidates MUST be outstanding communicators and be able to work with many different types of individuals, sometimes under pressure and time constraints.
- High School degree required; college degree preferred.
- Purchasing experience in the food industry preferred.
- Understanding of and experience with just-in-time inventory systems preferred.
- A demonstrable track record of process improvement preferred.
- Product knowledge helpful.
- Computer literacy essential, including MS Office products; experience with replenishment software (especially Blue Ridge) and ERP software preferred.
- Great time management skills and ability to organize and prioritize heavy workload required.
