A clinician is needed to serve as an Attending Psychiatrist for the Emergency Department and CPEP. Shifts totaling 40 hours per week with cross-coverage as necessary. The Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor will be responsible for psychiatric evaluation, and management of patients in the Emergency Department of Stony Brook University Hospital. The Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor will also be responsible for teaching and supervision of medical students and residents.
Responsibilities include:
Evaluate, diagnose, plan for appropriate clinical management and disposition of all the patients referred for psychiatric intervention.Obtain collateral history from families and professional providers for accuracy.Consultation must be done within a timely manner.Communicate results of evaluations, treatments and recommendations to primary medical team through verbal communication and documentation in the electronic medical record.Complete Proper Consultation Documentation. MD or DO (or foreign equivalent). New York State license or eligbility. B.E./B.C. in Adult Psychiatry.
Preferred Qualifications:
Clinical Experience in Emergency Psychiatry. Clinical Experience in Psychiatry Consultation & Liaison Service. Previous leadership activity experience. Previous experience teaching and supervising of medical students and residents.
