Summary

The Office of Real Estate assesses and resolves complex realty issues in supplying expert advice and guidance to all managerial levels concerning realty problems and issues.

Duties

The Supervisory Realty Specialist is responsible for serving as Smithsonian's leading expert in real estate. Works with the Deputy and Undersecretary for Finance and Administration to ensure that necessary resources are available to handle the real estate workload and that teams established to work an issue involving real estate have adequate technical support.

In this position, you will:

  • Serves as the primary advisor and recognized technical expert in real estate matters.
  • Evaluates and oversees the successful and timely accomplishment of all technical work assigned to the team and ensures that quality standards are met.
  • Conceives, plans, coordinates, and conducts original and pioneering work of Smithsonian-wide scope.
  • Produces reports, reviews, and assessments to prove or disprove the feasibility of new or altered techniques, procedures, plans, and management systems pertaining to real estate.
  • Leads the preparation, review and coordination of special reports, studies, and analyses on real property management actions.
  • Provides expert guidance in real property management as necessary to formulate Smithsonian policy guidelines and criteria.
  • Exercises delegated managerial authority to set a series of annual, multiyear, or similar types of long-range work plans and schedules for in-service or contracted work.
  • Assures implementation of the goals and objectives for OUSA Real Estate.
