Job Summary
The Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment's Animal and Food Science department is seeking an Extension Associate.
The Extension Associate will provide technical assistance, develop educational materials, and coordinate education and outreach programs for the Beef Cattle Extension Team.
Responsibilities include:
planning and organizing educational programs developed by the Beef Extension Team for beef cattle producers, county extension agents, and other clientele as neededassist beef extension personnel with planning and implementation of field demonstrations, and on-farm visits to beef cattle producersdata entry into electronic systems, including spreadsheets and record keeping softwareAssist with development of program evaluations and reports
Aid with formatting and editing of extension publications including monthly newsletters, numbered extension publications, and social media posts.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
Basic knowledge of Good Agricultural Practices, fruit and vegetable production, produce safety microbiology, and the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act. Able to identify and relay technical, scientific information to a non-scientific audience practically and respectfully, including conducting literature reviews and providing appropriate information to diverse audiences. Self-starter, interested in helping people understand and learn how to implement produce food safety practices and co-management on farms and in packinghouses.
