JOB SUMMARY:

Sells daily racing program, tip sheets, Daily Racing Forms, and other publications to the public. May assist with promotional initiatives through the access patron management information only as directed by the Asst OTB General Manager.

DIRECTLY SUPERVISES: None

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Provides appropriate customer service to all internal and external customers.
  • Counts or verifies the number of programs, tip sheets, Daily Racing Forms, and other publications that are allocated, received and/or distributed to other program sellers.
  • Photocopies materials as needed.
  • Verifies and initials bank received.
  • Be responsible for all monies and product received.
  • Accept cash or valid coupons for programs. Make correct change if necessary. Do no accept rolled coin.
  • Turn in all monies and coupons received for purchases.
  • Maintains race results as determined by the company.
  • Validates customer parking garage tickets at company locations a needed.
  • Answers phone and transfers calls.
  • Notify TOTE of customer service problems with TOTE equipment.
  • Complete, sign and return to the cashier a return cash slip with each skim and at the end of the shift.
  • Return all programs, tip sheets, Daily Racing Forms, and other publications not sold to the Admissions Office at the end of the shift.
  • Complete, sign and return to the manager a cashier statement at the end of the shift.
  • Maintain a clean work area.
  • Maintain the company's rewards program for patrons.
  • Abides by all dress code requirements of the company.
  • Abide by all Security measures instituted to ensure employee and customer safety.
  • Assists with accounting and balancing procedures.
  • Maintain calendar and special event notices on display at the program and customer service stands.
  • Will abide by all safety requirements as outlined in the Safety Manual or as required by individual departments and/or job functions.
EDUCATIONS and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS:

Must be able to obtain and maintain a license by the Indiana Horse Racing Commission and the Indiana Gaming Commission

Requires periodic access to patron management for point/play information.
