Position Summary:

This position reports directly to the Assistant Director of Patient Access Process Improvement and is responsible for managing projects that support process improvement initiatives related to scheduling operations across Johns Hopkins Medicine. This includes assessment, focused analytics (eg. Organizational Access KPI metrics), design, implementation, support and sustainability.

Roles & Responsibilities:

The Process Improvement Project Manager's primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to;

  • Influencing Positive Change
  • Building strategic relationships and partnerships with departmental (Physician/faculty, Administrator and other clinical staff) and site leadership (Patient Access Managers and/or Directors)
  • Develops project scopes, deliverables and plans in alignment with project goals and objectives
  • Design and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives focused on streamlining scheduling operations and meeting Access Services performance goals
  • Manages project implementation to achieve goals while controlling resources, risks, conflicts, timelines and costs
  • Supporting new practice and physician set-up (e.g. scheduling template development, protocols, dictionary work, EMR programming, etc).
  • Work with JHM IT representatives on projects to fully utilize and implement available functionality to improve processes
  • Supporting practices in scheduling competency assessments and ongoing change management.
  • Working with departmental physicians and administrative leadership to optimize and maintain physician scheduling templates and protocols, including check-ups to ensure templates continue to meet physician needs, best practices standards and organization KPI's.
  • Working with the JHM Training teams to identify and maintain scheduling training needs
  • Ensuring consistent, transparent and organization wide communications for all scheduling related topics.
  • Recognizing process improvement opportunities, challenging the status quo and offering solutions to gain efficiencies

Education:

A Bachelor's Degree in Business in Health Administration, Project Management or related degree is required; a Master's Degree is preferred. Related work experience may be substituted for some educational requirements.

Experience:

Minimum of 3 years of experience in Business, program development and/or project development/management preferably in health insurance is required.

Minimum of 1 years working on projects involving project life cycle.

Competencies:

Required familiarity;

  • Basic principles of project management including time management, stakeholder concepts, project tracking and documentation
  • Proficiencies in Microsoft Word applications including Excel and Word, Outlook or equivalent e-mail, and internet usage.

Preferred familiarity;

  • Change management and Sustainability
  • Six Sigma, lean sigma or other operational improvement methodologies
  • Working knowledge of MSProject and Microsoft visio is preferred.
