Actian's Customer Experience (CX) Team exists to provide exceptional experiences for our customers by helping them realize the value and success from working with Actian's products and services. The CX team designs and delivers quality experiences by turning customer needs and user insights into actionable ideas to help them solve their business challenges through the Actian Cloud Data Platform.

The CX Team

As one of the divisions within the CX team, the Experience Design Team at Actian is a highly multidisciplinary group consisting of UX and UI designers, and Content Strategist. We are at the forefront of creating simple and intuitive user experience designs that enhance the lives of our end users. Our goal is to build effortless designs that enable customers and users to innovate their solutions easily and quickly.

Currently, we are seeking a Principal Designer to join our team, with a special emphasis on bringing an entrepreneurial approach to our innovative projects. This is an exciting new role with opportunity for growth within the HCLSoftware Data & Analytics portfolio. The Experience Strategy team will play an important role reshaping how we deliver the customer experience and grow our presence in the cloud data management market.

About the Role

Your primary focus will involve simplifying complexity to enhance the user experience, thereby creating a profound impact on our users. You'll take the lead in driving the design process alongside diverse cross-functional collaborators to shape our long-term design vision while addressing short-term design strategies. This role enables you to leverage your strengths and fosters opportunities for personal growth. You can anticipate a deeply collaborative work environment with our design, project, and research teams.

Skills and Expertise

  • The ideal candidate should have 12+ years of experience in UI/UX design and strategy, demonstrating a deep understanding of the design process and development and its impact on user experience.
  • The role requires being self-directed and proactive, comfortable working with cross-functional teams, managing multiple projects and roadmaps, and consistently delivering high-quality work on time.
  • Possess a highly creative and analytical mindset, capable of solving complex problems and providing innovative solutions to UX dilemmas.
  • A well-curated online design portfolio is a must, demonstrating how you created an impact on bringing new products and features to market and improving business metrics will be highly valued.
  • Proficient in Figma

Responsibilities

  • Bridges gaps across groups and teams to address UX issues rooted in siloed thinking, execution, and organizational boundaries.
  • Identifies risks, limitations, and blockers for proposed solutions; can assess the magnitude of risk and devise strategies for mitigation.
  • Develops a point of view (POV) on the value to be delivered by the current design backlog. Influences product direction by owning the design strategy for product area releases, both release over release and quarter over quarter.
  • Demonstrates a high level of awareness regarding industry trends and best practices. Is sought out by other designers for input on their designs, recognized as a tastemaker of the highest order.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Mastery of best practices for User Experience (UX) within an enterprise context, complemented by a solid understanding of Infrastructure as a Service (SaaS).
  • Proficiency in the cloud data management or data warehouse space.
  • Possesses a robust design acumen combined with a passion for and expertise in technology, including cloud services, cybersecurity, and data management tools.
  • Proven experience in designing for large-scale enterprises, particularly those emphasizing infrastructure management and orchestration tools.
  • Proficient in AI technologies, recognizing their significance as a distinct and critical requirement in the product landscape.
  • Experience using Pendo, JIRA, and Confluence is a plus, though not mandatory.
