They ensure the hotel is well-maintained and that guests aren't disturbed by repairs. Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Maintenance and repairs: plan and execute maintenance schedules, address repair needs, and organize repair projects
  • Preventative maintenance: ensure all required preventative maintenance is completed to standard
  • Inspections: conduct regular inspections and review completed work orders to ensure quality
  • Safety: ensure compliance with safety regulations and spot safety risks
  • Staffing: maintain engineering department staffing levels and establish daily work assignments
  • Training: coordinate training programs for department personnel
  • Budgeting: manage budgets for maintenance projects and expenses
  • Contractors: coordinate with external contractors and service providers
  • Guest complaints: assist department heads with maintenance-related guest complaints
  • Emergency issues: respond quickly to emergency issues such as power outages, etc.
  • Energy conservation: find ways to reduce hotel operating costs and conserve energy
  • Inventory: maintain the security of hotel inventory and assets, such as tools, supplies, furniture, fixtures, and equipment
Skills and qualifications:
  • Technical understand of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems
  • Proficiency operating modern maintenance technology
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Organizational skills
  • Attention to detail
  • In depth knowledge of health and safety regulations
  • Problem-solving aptitude and sense of urgency
  • Hotel industry experience is a plus
