Reports to: Director of Development
Status: Volunteer | Part or Full Time | Hybrid | 4 - 8hrs. between 8 am - 6 pm
Who We Are
Nicholas House's mission is to help families who are experiencing homelessness and support them through their crisis. Nicholas House helps families who are struggling to pay rent, move into affordable homes, get themselves to work and their children off to school, and ultimately lift themselves up and out of poverty and toward a better life.
Nicholas House staffs a Volunteer Liaison to support the important work of developing and maintaining relationships with volunteers and donors in addition to sending reminders and follow-up communications.
The Volunteer Liaison helps maintain the calendar that optimizes the activities of Nicholas House's Volunteer Program. The Volunteer Liaison supports development services by, managing volunteer activities in the calendar and database, mailing solicitations, and creating acknowledgments.
Successful volunteer candidates must possess outstanding written and verbal communication skills, notable attention to detail, confidence in working with people, and preferred experience in database entry.
What You'll Do
The Volunteer Liaison provides volunteer/donor engagement support to the Volunteer and Database Manager and front office administrative support for volunteers.
- Greets volunteers and ensures they complete the correct forms when interacting in person or by phone.
- Answers phone to respond to initial inquiries about volunteer opportunities or volunteer partnerships.
- Works with Volunteer and Database Manager to respond to other incoming volunteer requests or opportunities.
- Processes donor, volunteer, and in-kind thank you notes weekly for mailing and filing in the Bloomerang database.
- Helps collate and mail funding solicitations, pledge statements, and other bulk mailings as needed.
- Helps maintain volunteer database and calendar with up-to-date information on volunteer contacts and opportunities.
- Assists with the maintenance of the Bloomerang electronic filing system, calendars, and Bloomerang Volunteer databases.
- Provides support for fundraising activities including event logistics and appeals.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

• Working knowledge of technology, including internet search, Microsoft Office Suite, databases and publishing software.QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum 1-year administrative assistant experience or a more substantial record of progressively responsible experience as an administrative assistant. Must be a motivated self-starter able to work independently and proactively to find solutions as needed as well as the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Must have strong organizational skills, be detail-oriented, able to set and meet multiple deadlines and have excellent verbal/written communication. Should have self-assurance and ability to work well with persons from any background. Strong computer skills and internet search/use capability needed and experience with all Microsoft Office Suite software with an emphasis on Word, Excel, Outlook or other database systems. Experience in a non-profit organization involved with fundraising campaigns/events and service programs preferred.
