Coordinator of Teen and Family Experiences

Children and families are central to our congregation’s vibrancy and existence. The Coordinator of Teen and Family Experiences plans and facilitates opportunities for our children, teens and adults that promote our mission to

spark positive Jewish identities . In implementing programming, the Coordinator of Teen and Family Experiences will strive to inspire a passion for participants to act, connect and explore through hands-on projects and volunteer opportunities, programming fostering meaningful relationships, and experiential learning and travel. Ideal Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree, with a focus on Jewish studies preferred

and

a minimum of 2 years teaching or leading experience in a Jewish religious school, secular school or summer camp. Love of children and teens. Excellent organizational and administrative skills with attention to details. Ability to build meaningful relationships with youth, teens, and their parents. Collaborative working style and demonstrated capacity for creative thinking, leadership, and program development. Solid work ethic and proven reliability. Strong interpersonal, communication (oral and written), and computer skills. Comfort leading with Reform Jewish values and principles. Understanding of and ability to do basic budgeting. Passion for creating an inclusive environment for all children and teens. The Coordinator of Teen and Family Experiences reports to the Director of Lifelong Learning and the BEC Assistant Director. This position includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities: Connect and Act: Project Connect Youth Program Oversee high school teen leaders (in partnership with the educational team and clergy) of existing

Project Connect groups , including Project Social, Project Justice, Project Gesher, Project Tolerance, and Project Shir. Assist high school leaders in the development of additional Project Connect Groups. Develop and oversee youth programming for the

45 Club

(4 th /5 th

grades),

Project 67

(6 th /7 th

grades), and

Project 8

(8 th

grades). Create the yearly

Project Connect Handbook . Work with NFTY, BBYO, and Jewish camps to promote participation in local, regional and summer programs, with an emphasis on renewing participation in NFTY. The Coordinator of Teen and Family Experiences’ role in Youth Travel includes promoting, planning, scheduling, securing reservations, overseeing registration, communicating details, securing supplies, and chaperoning (except for the confirmation trip). Act and Explore: Temple Youth Travel Planning and implementation of the

Grade Day Trip ,

& 7 th

Grade Trips to Alabama or Tennessee

(alternating years),

8 th

& 9 th

Grade Trip to Florida or New Orleans

(alternating years), the

Senior Trip to Washington, D.C. Work as a liaison to local and national Jewish camps and summer programs. The Coordinator of Teen and Family Experiences’ role in Youth Travel includes promoting, planning, scheduling, securing reservations, overseeing registration, communicating details, securing supplies, and chaperoning. Connect: Breman Education Center Family Programming Plan, coordinate and supervise family educational programs for pre-kindergarten through sixth grades, including appropriate and timely program training with teachers. Coordinate with the rabbinic and educational staff for content and coverage of family programs. Work with the Education Team to update existing programs. The Coordinator of Teen and Family Experiences’ role in Family Programming includes promoting and planning, setting and cleaning up, communicating details, securing supplies, and facilitating. Plan, secure games and prizes, publicize, recruit volunteers, and supervise the annual Purim carnival with the assistance of the Breman Education Center Committee. Connect: Breman Education Center Responsibilities Assist the Education Team with the management and facilitation of the Sunday and Midweek Programs. Plan and coordinate Judith Kirschner Sunday and assist with other special programs (such as the 5 th

Grade Yom Ha’atsmaut Fair). Serve as an infrequent substitute Sunday or Midweek Hebrew teacher. Assist in creating meaningful youth connections for holidays at the Midweek Hebrew Program. Connect: Communications Establish fitting social media connections for teens. Post social media updates for youth events and programs. Update The Temple’s Project Connect and Travel Website pages regularly. Submit monthly youth and family updates to The Temple Bulletin. Regular phone, e-mail, text, and mail communications with parents, students, and faculty. Thank unpaid volunteers by email and/or in writing. Share this job
