As an Advanced Practice Nurse (Psychiatry Nurse Practitioner), you will:

  • Perform psychiatric and medical assessment to obtain biopsychosocial and medical history, mental status, and risk factors
  • Assess for psychiatric conditions including homicidal and suicidal ideations and facilitate care if indicated to include involuntary hospitalization when resident is deemed a threat to self or others, and if clinically indicated to preserve the safe of self and others
  • Possess understanding of the concepts of substance use disorders. Initiate counseling and motivation strategies individualized for the patient and collaborate with interdisciplinary team to facilitate success in managing substance used disorders.
  • Collaborate with physicians and nurse practitioners when indicated. May serve as alternate to unit physician or nurse practitioner in his/her absence or as assigned.
  • Participate in after hours on call assignments.
