Role Overview:
As a pivotal member of the healthcare team, the Advanced Practice Nurse Consultant serves as a clinical authority and healthcare provider, educator, collaborator, consultant, leader, and researcher for a designated patient demographic or specialized area.

Core Responsibilities:
Utilizes a framework grounded in evidence-based nursing practice across three primary spheres of influence: patient/family, nursing, and organizational systems.

Acts as a consultant to navigate complex patient care challenges, offering expert guidance in the prevention and management of nursing practices.

Leadership and Education:
Coordinates, mentors, educates, and leads nursing personnel in evidence-based clinical practices, quality enhancement, and patient safety initiatives.

Conducts, facilitates, or applies research aimed at improving patient care and outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing is mandatory.
  • A Master's degree in Nursing is essential.
  • A Doctoral degree in Nursing, Education, or Healthcare Administration is preferred.

Experience:
5-7 years of progressively responsible experience in Nursing is required, with a preference for candidates who have experience in advanced nursing roles.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure.
  • State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure.
  • Specialty certification from a nationally recognized nursing organization within one year is required.
  • CPR certification for healthcare providers is mandatory.
  • Additional certifications may vary by department.

Communication and Relationship Building:
Fosters trusting, collaborative relationships with all healthcare team members. Engages in both formal and informal educational activities for nursing and other health disciplines. Functions effectively within interdisciplinary teams.

Knowledge of Healthcare Environment:
Provides specialized nursing leadership for a defined patient population, demonstrating professional and clinical leadership skills. Supports patient care delivery models that are accountable for assessing, planning, evaluating, and modifying nursing care based on comprehensive data analysis.

Professional Development:
Maintains up-to-date knowledge of trends and advancements in clinical specialties through various professional activities, including research, literature review, and participation in relevant seminars and conferences.

Business Acumen:
Acts as a facilitator and innovator for cutting-edge nursing care, directly involved in the implementation and evaluation of new techniques and equipment for safety and cost-effectiveness.
