Position Description

Performs advanced, specialized work to assist in the organization and implementation of various projects and programs. Work is performed under minimal supervision within established policies with latitude for independent judgment. Works on special projects as assigned. May substitute for supervisor during his/her absence.

Major/Essential Functions

  • Supports the service plus philosophy of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.
  • Respond to patient inquiries.
  • Verify patient benefits and follow up.
  • Obtain referrals/Verify insurance and schedules.
  • Corresponds with patients on status of pre certification process.
Obtain pre-certification for procedures and surgeries for all ENT patients Neuro/Radiology Document information accurately in Centricity.

  • Schedule patients for surgical procedures to include picking a surgery date, scheduling an anesthesia assessment,
educating the patient/family on preop and postop care and scheduling a clinic apt for follow up.

  • Posting surgeries to the hospital website and insuring orders and consent are faxed to Outpatient Surgery, and managed care.
  • Obtaining surgery clearances for patients.
  • Ability to work in a busy environment and provide exceptional customer service and attention to detail.
Occasional Duties

  • Perform other related duties as required.
Required Qualifications

High school plus six years experience in related field. Additional education may substitute for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with medical procedures.
  • Experience with the referral/managed care process.
