Job Description

Data Science and Analytics is an ambitious team of Data Scientists and Data Engineers with a unique blend of Business, Scientific, and Machine Learning expertise that seeks to unleash the full potential of AbbVies data assets by bringing technology and/or data and insights to the forefront of decision making via fit-for-purpose solutions.

The Sr. Manager, Data Science and Analytics is a data science initiatives leadership role and is responsible for helping cross-functional partners identify and prioritize sophisticated analytics solutions to create value and impact across the clinical development continuum. Drives Analytics innovation and experimentation to enable data-driven insights for complex business problems. Ensures consistency in analysis techniques and delivery. Accountable for gathering cross-functional input into the development of Advanced Analytics capabilities and ensures follow-through via robust project management and stakeholder engagement.

Roles and Responsibilities:

May be responsible for people management including contractors and consultantsSupport the implementation of next generation technology and process to enable enterprise data analytics on pace with emerging integrated data sources (biomarker/translational, big data, digital sources, real world data, pharmacovigilance data, clinical trial data)Responsible for coaching, mentoring and performance management of direct reports. Responsible for talent development in alignment with R&D business needsLeads cross-functional initiatives with matrixed teams; Connects with cross-functional leadership and enables analytics capabilities to drive data-driven operations and decision makingInfluences the cross-functional stakeholders to identify opportunities to unleash the full-potential of data and analyticsRepresents the functional area at critical governance, quality and compliance, and regulatory meetingsEnsures consistent analytics support through effective resource management, prioritization, and timeline management.Fosters innovation and entrepreneurial culture within the team that attracts and retains top talent; Creates an environment of continuous learningEnsures adherence to federal regulations and applicable local regulations, Good Clinical Practices (GCPs), ICH Guidelines, AbbVie Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and to functional quality standards. Stays abreast of new and/or evolving local regulations, guidelines and policies related to clinical development
Qualifications
Qualifications:Bachelors degree statistics, analytics, bioinformatics, data science or equivalent field. Masters degree preferredMust have 4-6+ years of experience with enabling novel analytics capabilities across business areas with 1-2 years of experience leading a team or cross functional initiatives. Pharmaceutical industry experience preferredIntermediate-level proficiency in R, Python or other statistical packages. Intermediate-level knowledge of statistical and data mining techniquesIntermediate proficiency with visualization tools like Spotfire, Tableau or equivalentDemonstrated project management skillsExperience with Machine Learning and other advanced analytics techniques preferredDemonstrated effective communication skills including data storytelling. Demonstrated ability to communicate analytical and technical concepts in laymans termsDemonstrated problem-solving and analytical skillsDemonstrated history of successful execution in a fast-paced environment and in managing multiple priorities effectivelyDemonstrated ability to influence cross-functional leadersGood understanding of clinical development functional areas and related processes
