Position Summary

An individual who is assisting at the ELC in classrooms on a regular basis during assigned hours needed by the center. Will assist childcare center staff in the duties required to provide a safe, healthy, developmentally appropriate environment for young children.

Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule

Pay rate: $20/hour

The successful candidate is expected to work 20 hours per week. This position typically assigned as needed on a quarterly basis, with no expectation of continued employment beyond the current appointment.

The temporary hourly employment is limited to the earlier of 1,050 hours or 12 consecutive months beginning from the original date of hire. Per , following 1,050 hours or 12 consecutive months, an individual is not eligible for re-employment at Bellevue College in another temporary part-time hourly position. Temporary hourly employees who work more than three hundred fifty (350) hours in a twelve consecutive month period may be subject to provisions of one the collective bargaining agreements covering Classified employees at Bellevue College.

This position is expected to NOT be eligible for benefits because eligibility is limited only to employees working at least an average of 80 hours in eligible employment for more than 6 consecutive months and at least 8 hours a month. Eligible positions are eligible for certain

The Early Learning Center encourages discovery, creativity, overall development, independence, self-regulation, problem solving, and exploration in a safe, respectful, yet stimulating, relationship-based environment. Essential Functions

• Assist in cleaning, strengthening, and organizing classroom, playground, office areas, and or kitchen as assigned.

• Monitor and interact with children in classroom &/or playground as directed by teaching staff.

• Assist the staff in meeting the needs of the children.

• Continually observe and model teachers' interactions with children.

• Help gather and prepare materials as assigned.

• Engage children in play and activities as directed by teaching staff.

• Practice and help enforce safety standards and guidelines as directed by teaching staff.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must enjoy and respect children.

• Must be responsible, positive, and flexible.

• Must be willing to learn and take direction.

• Must be able to understand and communicate in English.

• Must complete BC payroll/employment file requirements.

• Must complete licensing criminal history background check.

• Must provide negative TB test results.

• Must attend scheduled orientation.

• Must be on time and notify ELC office of absence prior to shift; Maintain own time sheet; sign in and out accurately.
