About the Role & Team

As part of the theScore team, you will be working with a team of smart, friendly, and dedicated Engineers, Product Managers and Designers working together to deliver some of the best apps the market has to offer. We are looking for an Engineering Manager to run our DevEx Acceleration team, to be the front line for improving local development experience and optimizing the inner dev loop. This team is focused on reducing time-to-first-commit for new engineers and improving the lives of existing engineers. This team will deliver a best in class development experience, making it easy to set up projects locally, easy to code on multiple microservices and client applications together, and providing all the tools engineers need to iterate on code quickly and effortlessly.

About the work

  • Drive improvements to our local development environment and inner dev loop, enabling our engineers to deliver amazing user experiences to our end users faster.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across all engineering disciplines, including product engineering, data engineering, and site reliability engineering and infrastructure teams to identify and tackle the highest impact opportunities.
  • Define and execute on a technical roadmap aligned with overall engineering strategy.
  • Set clear goals for the team aligned with the roadmap and track progress against these goals.
  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the team, providing goal setting, mentorship, coaching, leadership, guidance and performance management and feedback.
  • Empower your team members to have a big impact.
  • Play a visible role within the organization, evangelizing your team's work to the rest of the engineering organization.
  • Seek out additional opportunities for improvement to the overall developer experience within the organization.
  • Stay current with industry advancements in the DevEx space and share your learnings with the rest of the organization.

About You

  • Solid background in computer science, including experience across backend, frontend, and DevOps.
  • Product oriented mindset and experience with defining technical strategy and roadmaps.
  • Experience leading software engineering teams.
  • Love being hands on and eager to lead by example.
  • Solid time management, project management, and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate and work with all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent teamwork and team building skills with a proven ability to delegate.
  • Prior experience improving inner dev loop and/or local development experience.
