President/CEO
Production Agriculture – Dairy
As a key executive in this business, being thoroughly involved in both the financial and
operational aspects of the business will provide you with the opportunity to provide
leadership to the business decisions and direction. Understanding and endorsing the
goals, values, and vision of the owners will be important.
Financial
Working with the Office Managers, understand
current bookkeeping and accounting procedures, offer suggestions for improvement to
generate reports that will assist you and the owners in making well-informed
management decisions. The Office Managers will report directly to you.
Develop sound financial strategies that will enhance business decisions to support the
owner's goals and vision of the business.
Meet with the Owners on a Quarterly basis to review financial performance and evaluate
business opportunities.
Working with the accounting firm, assisting with developing and implementing sound and
strategic business tax planning.
Working with the owners, you will be an important part of strategic business decisions by
providing sound information, offering strategic alternatives, and recommendations. You
will be an important resource for ideas for the future.
Understand the farm's risk profile and the owner's interest in managing those risks.
Develop and implement a comprehensive risk management program that serves the risk
management interest of the owners.
Monitor cash flow and manage cash balances to minimize interest costs while assuring
the availability of sufficient liquidity for on-going operations.
Working with our lender, establishing, and maintaining a good working relationship,
defining borrowing needs and repayment strategies.
Operations
Work with the seven individuals that currently make up the Management Group,
comprised of four owners and three non-owners. Support each one of the members of
this group to achieve their managerial, professional, and personal goals.
Create agenda items, meeting schedules, and facilitate discussion within this group.
These discussions will guide future decisions and investments. We have used this group
and these meetings to conduct professional training and development on a regular
basis. Develop a relationship with each of them so that you are seen as a valued leader
who they can trust.
As interested and as time allows, participate in the Dairy Management meetings to assist
those managers with their activities and to connect that group's concerns with the
Manager's and Owners Groups.
Continually looking for ways to improve our productivity and efficiency.
Lead the team of managers in continuing and developing our safety training programs.
Manage the HR requirements relying on the Office Managers and potentially a part-time
person. This would include efforts to create a positive workplace for all employees and
project a positive image in the community.
