Physical Requirements

The ability to lift, carry, push, and pull pounds on a daily basis; as well as stand, walk, and sit for long periods of time.

The conditions of work may involve exposure to communicable diseases and injury from intractable patients or sharp instruments.

Shift
Must be able to work three 12.5-hour shifts per week (7:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.) Will also be required to work some weekends and holidays.

Job Summary

UK HealthCare is seeking a registered respiratory therapist dedicated to wellness, safety, and patient-centered care to join our team at KY Children's Hospital.

The Respiratory Therapist Senior ensures competent care of patients through airway management, mechanical ventilator management, blood gases, oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, and other duties as it relates to assure the quality of patient care.

The ideal candidate will perform proper documentation of patient care activities and interventions; record therapy and results as required by hospital policy and regulatory agencies; and communicate with other healthcare teams to ensure the quality care of patients.

Kentucky Children's Hospital (KCH) is a hospital within a hospital, located on multiple floors of the Chandler Medical Center.

Boasting state's only Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit with 70-beds, respiratory therapists are an integral part of the delivery team and the bedside care team.

In acute and progressive care, respiratory therapists provide protocol guided care for bronchiolitis, asthma, and oxygen delivery.

A great opportunity for new graduates, respiratory therapists at KCH will have the excellent opportunity to deliver a considerable range of services covered under their RT license.


The starting pay for this position was recently adjusted. The minimum hourly rate for this position will now be $30.00/hour. All pay rates will be based on candidate's experience.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
The ideal candidate will have patient care experience, strong computer skills, and excellent communication skills.

Preferred Education/Experience
Pediatric respiratory experience in a hospital setting preferred.
