Summary/Objective

In keeping with our organization's goal of improving the lives of the Guests we serve, the

Certified Nursing Assistant Supervisor (C.N.A. Supervisor) plays a critical role in providing

superior customer service and nursing care to all Guests. The C.N.A. Supervisor safeguards the

health, safety and welfare of all Guests under their care by following applicable laws,

regulations, and established nursing policies and procedures.

Essential Functions

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform

1. Provides general supervision of the Certified Nurse Assistant's.

2. Assures that subordinate staff member's tasks are completed on time and checks the

quality of work.

3. Completes annual performance reviews of all subordinate staff.

4. Provides guidance and education to staff in regards to their performance.

5. Provides counseling to subordinate staff members when needed.

6. Assists with scheduling of C.N.A's by finding replacements when staff members call off if

needed.

7. Acts as a back-up C.N.A. during staffing shortages or when directed to do so.

8. Performs various tasks assigned by the floor nurse including checking vital signs,

weighing Guests, applying creams/ointments and collecting specimens.

9. Must be knowledgeable of individual care plans and support the care planning process

by providing supervisors with specific information and observations of the Guest's

needs, preferences and report any behavioral changes.

10. Completes medical records documenting care provided and other information in

accordance with nursing policies while maintaining strict confidentiality.

11. Assure that established infection control and prevention practices and standard

precautions are maintained at all times.

12. Follow established safety precautions when preforming tasks and using equipment and

supplies.

13. Assists with the training of new staff members.

14. Reports all hazardous conditions, damaged equipment, accidents/incidents and supply

issues to the supervisor.

15. Maintains the comfort, privacy and dignity of Guests and interacts with them in a

manner that displays warmth, respect and promotes a caring environment.

16. Ensure each Guest receives person centered care.

17. Must answer and respond to call lights promptly and courteously.

18. Assist with new admissions, re-admissions and assist with the transfer of Guests to

different rooms within the facility.

19. Communicates and interacts effectively and tactfully with Guests, visitors, families,

peers and supervisors.

20. Attend and participate in departmental meetings and in-services as directed.

21. Recognize your role as part of the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement

(QAPI) efforts of your organization.

22. Attend trainings to build understanding and capacity to undertake QAPI work.

23. Carry out QAPI roles and responsibilities as assigned.

24. Follow established policies and procedures in support of QAPI efforts.

25. Any noted opportunities for improvement will be shared with leadership in the

organization.

26. Communicate to leadership upon witnessing a positive outcome of a QAPI project or

detecting barriers preventing project success.

27. Support QAPI efforts both verbally and non-verbally (i.e., via actions and attitude),

including adjusting performance and practice in accordance with QAPI initiatives and

findings.

28. Participate in compliance trainings as scheduled and adhere to compliance plan.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position provides general supervision to C.N.A.'s and other subordinate staff.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This

position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping on a

regular basis. The employee must be able to lift and move items and patients weighing at least

50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color

vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Required Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent.

Valid, unencumbered Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.) Certification in the state of practice.

C.P.R. Certified

Preferred Education and Experience

One year experience in a C.N.A. position.
