JOB SUMMARY: Independently performs preventative maintenance and technical repairs in grounds, plumbing, carpentry, painting, electrical, and HVAC areas. Maintains life safety systems and shares knowledge with others. Works required shifts and on-call duty for 24/7 coverage.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or GED equivalent

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION: Valid North Carolina driver's license

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Maintains various areas (offices, labs, hospital, etc.) according to codes and standards.
  2. Performs preventive maintenance tasks on equipment and documents using a computerized system.
  3. Evaluates and repairs building system failures using available resources.
  4. Installs new building hardware and equipment for renovations.
  5. Maintains and repairs refrigeration systems.
  6. Maintains vacuum, compressed air, and medical gas systems.
  7. Operates campus utility equipment.
  8. Monitors building automation system for environmental conditions.
  9. Conducts fire alarm and sprinkler system testing and repairs.
  10. Inspects and repairs fire doors, hardware, and partitions.
  11. Reads blueprints and maintenance manuals.
  12. Communicates with supervision and staff for service requests.
  13. Procures materials and maintains inventory.
  14. Participates in required training for policies and procedures.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to work independently

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Subject to temperature extremes, dirt, dust, and extreme noise conditions
  • Works on elevated surfaces
  • Requires Personal Protective Equipment
  • Available 24/7 at any WFBH location

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, finger and hand dexterity, talking, hearing, seeing
  • Lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling up to 100 lbs.
