THE CHILDREN'S RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM OFFICE IS RECRUITING FOR A PERMANENT, FULL-TIME STAFF SERVICES MANAGER I (SSM I).

THIS POSITION WILL BE LOCATED IN SACRAMENTO, CA.

Under the direction of the Staff Services Manager II (SSM II), the Staff Services Manager I (SSM I) supervise analytical and support staff that are responsible for the Children's Residential Program (CRP) support functions statewide.

The SSM I is responsible for the provision of program office-related support of all CRP regional offices by ensuring administrative functions such as the progression and tracking of controlled correspondence, program broadcasts, and purchasing, are completed timely and accurately.

The SSM I will also supervise the analysts assigned in the Licensing Information System (LIS) and Administrative Action Research (AARS) Check Unit that are responsible for checking the LIS, AARS, and Resource Family Approval (RFA) Notice of Action data systems for facility association, exemption, and RFA history of each applicant and all adults residing or regularly present in the home, as part of the background check process.

The SSM l additionally provides regional office support with the research, collection, and production of Public Records Act (PRA) requests.

The responsibilities of the SSM I include, but are not limited to, planning, organizing, and directing the work of the unit, setting goals and objectives, evaluating staff performance, and developing individual staff development plans, establishing unit work priorities consistent with the Program's objectives, and monitoring the unit's progress toward meeting its goals and objectives.

Working Conditions
The SSM I receives general direction from the SSM II (Bureau Chief) of the CRPO.

The SSM I is responsible for the assignment, management and completion of all projects, training, and ongoing workload of the analysts and support staff assigned to ensure program activities are carried out effectively within the authorized budget. The SSM I is also responsible for ensuring that the staff have necessary equipment, tools and controls to do their jobs.

The SSM I has extensive contact with other staff and managers from the CCLD and other Department of Social Services (CDSS) organizations, other Departments, business leaders and representatives of other governmental agencies.

The SSM I must exercise sound judgment, extreme confidentiality, open-mindedness, flexibility and demonstrate an ability to act independently. Failure to do so could result in adverse fiscal and policy consequences within the Program. Failure to take appropriate and timely action regarding legal issues, IDT, consultant use, thorough analysis of various documentation, etc., could result in leaving vulnerable clients at risk. Poor judgment may result in the Program not being able to meet objectives and the loss of valuable resources.

The SSM I must be able to objectively handle complex licensing, policy, personnel and budgetary issues. Regular travel may be required.
