Lead/Principal Product Manager

Austin, Texas, United States ClosedLoop Full time

Overview

For the majority of 2024, ClosedLoop has been developing a new, not-yet-launched, consumer product aimed at helping people navigate their health, built on top of generative AI.

We are hiring an experienced Lead or Principal-level Product Manager to spearhead this effort.

Our ideal candidate is someone who has:

  • Experience navigating a consumer product to Product Market Fit
  • Experience building and growing a consumer mobile app that people love
  • Experience solving patient-facing health care problems

We're looking for someone with the full 0->1 customer discovery skill set: you think in terms of hypotheses, you are outcomes focused, and you know which is the right tool to use to de-risk an assumption. You are great at analyzing and synthesizing quantitative and qualitative data, and it doesn't take much — a handful of data points plus 5-6 user interviews is enough to develop a to-be-tested hunch to explore if we're on the right track or not.

This is a fast-paced, pre-Product Market Fit, startup environment. We debate and decide quickly, meetings have agendas and pre-reads, and we expect high quality execution despite limited resources.

You'll be collaborating with truly excellent engineers, designers, and our executive team. We're a small company — 25 people — but we're packed with senior folks who are at the top of their game, work well together, are goal oriented, and want to make a difference.

Key elements of the role ...

Strategy and Planning:

Working backwards from company strategy and OKRs, identify the hypotheses and assumptions that are most important to validate or pursue next quarter and next sprint.

  • Work with your design and engineering partners to define and prioritize the roadmap the team will use to execute against it.
  • Effectively communicate your strategy and tactics to stakeholders, and get their alignment.
  • Prioritize and groom the product backlog to ensure design and engineering are working on the highest value items.

Execution:

  • Deliver big impact to our users and our business, with high velocity.
  • Together with your design and engineering partners, lead all aspects of sprint planning, execution, and ceremonies.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, designers, data scientists, and others to build new features and enhance existing ones.
  • Collaborate with design to test new ideas, and translate user research and testing into actionable product recommendations.
  • Maintain project plans and ensure releases are executed on time.
  • Leverage Mixpanel, surveys, and other tools to monitor KPIs and analyze the success of releases.
  • Conduct competitive analysis of related products to monitor how user expectations may be impacted and to inspire opportunities for improvement.

Leadership and Communication:

  • Tell a compelling narrative to your team and to stakeholders, effectively explaining and aligning everyone on the what, why, how, and when. Say it enough times, in enough different ways, to succeed at getting everyone on the same page.
  • Be the first to take accountability when something doesn't go right, and be the first to give credit to the team when it does.
  • Suggest and implement process improvements to how we do Product Development.

The right person for the job has ...

  • Proven track record finding product market fit for a consumer product
  • Demonstrated measurable success as product manager for a consumer mobile app
  • Contributes value through strategy and execution
  • Strong project management and problem solving skills
  • Ability to deliver results in a fast-paced environment
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication
  • Deep understanding of discovery techniques to identify and test hypotheses and assumptions
  • Good judgment and awareness of when to stop and pivot to something else

Required Education & Experience ...

  • 8+ years of product management experience, primarily in consumer product
  • Experience finding product market fit and scaling up
  • Experience developing patient-facing health products
