PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

It is the responsibility of the teaching faculty to provide the learning activities and support that will lead to the achievement of the course objectives and contribute to the educational environment of the college and the community. The faculty member's role encompasses the general areas of learning facilitation, professional development, and institutional service. Primary responsibilities are to plan, develop and teach courses within the curriculum in a manner that facilitates student learning.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:

This position is a 12-month contract with schedule vacation as detailed in the LSCS Policy Manual and paid holidays as scheduled by the Chancellor. Responsibilities are conducted primarily weekdays but may include some evening and weekend.Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipmentInterface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the positionWork is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazardsREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Associate degree or higher in any field; current FAA certifications of both Certified flight Instructor Airplane and Certified Flight Instructor Instrument OR both Advanced Ground Instructor and Instrument Ground Instructor; at least 3 years of nonteaching industry experiencePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's or Associate degree in Aviation or a related fieldCurrent FAA certificates as above and a current Airline Transport Pilot certificateExperience as Chief or Assistant Chief Flight Instructor4+ years of experience as an aviation instructor or as a commercial pilotExperience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Desire2Learn or BlackboardSalary Commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.
