GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:

The Harvard Aging Brain study and affiliated studies at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women's Hospital is looking to hire a highly motivated Clinical Research Coordinator. The team works across MGH and BWH to better understand the changes in the brain that may lead to Alzheimer's disease and to investigate novel preventative treatments.

Individual will be responsible for engagement, recruitment, and enrollment of participants in multiple settings (including, but not limited to clinic-based approved, engagement with potential participants through community events, and phone-based outreach). This position will be primarily remote (70-80% telework). This full-time position may require periodic evening and weekend hours for recruiting elderly cognitively normal and impaired individuals into our observational and clinical trial studies.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Communicate the mission and objectives to potential participants and articulate how our mission can benefit the community.
  • Conduct telephone screens, describe studies available, communicate with the MD reviewing records each week, while maintaining documentation in the recruitment tracking system, and following up as necessary.
  • Manage and triage central recruitment phone calls and voicemails as applicable and central recruitment email.
  • Obtain medical release forms and medical records for potential participants and following up as necessary.
  • Will liaise with memory disorders clinics to recruit cognitively normal and impaired participants and maintain contact with the referring physicians' network regarding study status.
  • Participate at research meetings on a monthly, bi-monthly, and weekly basis, keeping up to date on research studies available at CART and other partnering sites.
  • Track and record engagement and enrollment activities in program-specific software. Responsible for data validation and quality control. Maintain updated patient information in site-specific clinical trial management systems.
  • Present metrics and analysis of recruitment efforts at meetings.
  • Will liaise with members of various elder agencies to focus on recruiting participants from the diverse elderly population in the Greater Boston area.
  • Will liaise with Outreach, Recruitment, and Education (ORE) team.
  • Will develop recruitment and retention materials and update online recruitment and retention sources.
  • May participate in engagement/outreach activities including, but not limited to, a) engaging with patients at Program tables at hospitals, community health centers and community-based events; b) approaching patients in the clinical setting; and c) calling patients on the phone.
SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to be able to interact with a variety of people, including older adults with and without cognitive impairment, both in person and on the telephone
  • High level of responsibility and discipline to effectively work remotely without physical oversight
  • High level of organization with attention to detail
  • Ability to follow directions and protocol requirements
  • Willing to work with diverse and multicultural populations
  • High level of discretion, as some studies involve highly sensitive and private information
  • Well-developed computer skills
  • Comfort and/or experience with older participants and dementia patients is a plus
EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree required.

EXPERIENCE:
  • Customer service roles preferred
  • Social media training and experience preferred
