What will I do in this position if hired?


In this position, you will serve as the independent senior advisor to the Fire Administrator on the Wildfire Leadership Council (WFLC).


Typical assignments include:


Serving as a first level supervisor and perform supervisory tasks to include but not limited to planning work assignments for subordinates, evaluating performance, provide advice, counsel, or instructions to employees.

Serving as the fire protection and emergency response community expert to the Fire Administrator and monitoring key national and agency goals with fire and EMS services and community objectives and priorities.

Serving as the USFA senior level expert who provides senior leadership with program evaluation results that are utilized in the resource management process for greater program effectiveness.

Providing top level advice and recommendations to form the basis for decision making by senior officials concerning long-term major programs, involving participation of an extensive community of complex, multi-mission agency components.

Representing the Fire Administrator in high level contact with members of the fire and EMS services on the Mitigation Function Leadership Group.

Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
